Mitchell Mills is a native of Lubbock, TX. As a three sport athlete (Football, Basketball, and Track), Mitchell excelled on the field as well as in the classroom. As a high school senior, he was widely recruited by a number of Division 1 level schools to play football. Unfortunately, he was unable to completely realize his dream of playing the sport he loved at the collegiate level, that’s when he was introduced to CrossFit and he took to it and made it a huge part of his lifestyle.
“I am a very motivated, happy, and caring person. CrossFit is my love, coaching is my passion. I love helping and pushing people that want to achieve their goals and bettering their lives, in my eyes, there is nothing more rewarding.”
Prior to joining CrossFit Garland, Mitchell was a coach at CrossFit Paladin where he also programmed and was the head coach their Olympic Weightlifting program for the past two years. Mitchell has worked with countless individuals in helping them to reach goals they didn’t know were possible, by a strong focus on personal accountability – “I practice what I preach…I hold myself accountable to doing every rep the way it is meant to be done and in any movement that I may not be good or great at, I work to improve my skills so that I can share what I’ve learned with our athletes. I want to lead by example.”
What makes Mitchell a great addition to the CrossFit Garland team is that he’s a lifelong learner, detail-oriented, patient, and likes to have fun. “I pay attention to the small details when it comes to form and technique, whether Olympic weightlifting, gymnastics skills, or even stretching. I am very patient and have a very positive attitude, and I keep in mind every minute of every day that I need to be a very good role model for everyone and help to keep classes safe and fun!” Mitchell plans to successfully complete his CrossFit Level 2 and USAW Level 1 certification courses before the end of the year.
