Tell us about your sports & fitness background.
Grew up competing with my brothers at whatever game/sport we could play. I played football, basketball, baseball, and ran track/cross country in high school. I played quarterback in college (Division II) and coached high school football, basketball, and track for 5 years after college.
What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit?
Most of my time and energy outside of CrossFit is spent with my wife and 4 kids. Probably my most enjoyed hobby is coaching my kids’ teams or sitting back and just watching them have fun and compete.
How did you first get exposed to CrossFit Garland? Take us back to your first WOD… what was it, and how did it feel?
The first day I did the baseline was a very humbling experience. It took me 21 minutes to complete it and about halfway through it I was “calling Earl” (aka threw up).
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health, and fitness since starting CrossFit Garland? (before / after)
I have dropped 25 pounds and my blood pressure went down from 145 systolic and 102 diastolic to less than 120 systolic and 80 diastolic.
What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally unexpected?
It’s hard to describe the confidence that CrossFit has given me. Since my college athletic career ended and prior to CrossFit, I had little desire to workout. Since joining CrossFit, I hate missing the WOD.
Please share with us any of your favorite CrossFit / CrossFit Garland moments.
I enjoy competing against myself and my tribe members during each WOD.
Any advice for people just getting started in the CrossFit Garland tribe?
I have never been part of a better fitness environment than CrossFit Garland. That includes my 4 ½ years at as a college athlete and 5 years as a high school coach. The level of expertise and care for your long term health and fitness are unmatched. Attack each WOD, be disciplined with your diet and you’ll never regret being part of CrossFit Garland.
