Every day we get up we do our daily tasks, go to work or get work done around the house, and then do whatever is left over. Have you ever stopped and asked yourself why you do what you do?
When it comes to life we have the choice to do things for a reason or “just because.” I believe we find what we love and want when we truly start asking the question of “WHY?” When what we do has no driving factor it never pushes us to the point of difficulty. It allows us to stay in that comfortable position because for now I am still living and it is “working.”
I am going to suggest that we all need to find our reason in doing things. Having a reason and a purpose will clarify what you’re doing and help you focus more precisely on the task at hand. I have had to find this when it came to the gym and working out. My “WHY” for doing CrossFit and working out is, I want to be a healthy person who has fun with his health. I want to be a capable individual later in my life to play, compete, and able to move well. I am sure we have all been through some difficult things in our lives and for me this has happened recently. It is part of my “WHY”. To be able to come in every day and something hard and stretching and often times not what I want to do allows me to go to that place to achieve my WHY. There is power in grinding! If this is my “WHY” then what I do now clearly will effect what happens and where I will be at down the road. It drives me, it motivates me, and it keeps me accountable to me!
“WHAT’S YOUR WHY?” Sit down today. Whether on your lunch break or right before you go to bed and share with us your WHY for training and being a tribe member at CrossFit Garland.
