When did you first start CrossFitting?
When did you first start training at CrossFit Garland?
Favorite Benchmark WOD:
Annie (if it is a good day for double unders) or Helen
Least Favorite Benchmark WOD:
Nancy!! 5 rounds of 15 OHS and 400 meter run. I want to cry when this one comes up, but there’s no crying in CrossFit!
How did you first get exposed to CrossFit Garland? Take us back to your first WOD… what was it, and how did it feel?
I started CrossFit because I was going to the academy for law enforcement and they recommended doing it beforehand since we would be doing CF style workouts at the academy. I chose CF Garland because I grew up in Garland and knew someone that went here. I sent her a message and asked her about the gym and she said Robert was very nice so I gave him a call and got started! I don’t remember what my first WOD was after my intro session. I only remember the Baseline WOD during my first day at the gym and how extremely hard it was to make it through. I wanted to quit on the set of 10 pull ups.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health, and fitness since starting CrossFit Garland? (before / after)
I have seen some awesome changes, especially after working harder at eating right during the last year or so. I have lost about 15-20 pounds since I started CrossFit and gained lots of muscle. I am always working on getting stronger and I am in the best shape of my life, hands down. I have only been able to do this because of my great support system at home and in the gym.
What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally unexpected?
I am more confident in myself in general for sure. I am much happier too, which definitely stems from being healthier and more active.
Please share with us any of your favorite CrossFit / CrossFit Garland moments.
I have lots of favorite CF Garland moments but many involve the competitions we have all done together. It’s always fun to be with your tribe members competing against CF athletes from other gyms. Of course my favorite moment of all is when Garth proposed at the end of the workout on April 18. Endless thanks to Robert for introducing us to each other! 🙂
Any advice for people just getting started in the CrossFit Garland tribe?
Don’t quit when it gets difficult and get to know the other tribe members. They are your best supports and biggest fans next to the coaches! I always look forward to seeing my CF buddies and love taking on new challenges and tough workouts with them.
